Strong shoots.......
We've got fed up of theme-based dresses and uniforms. .....ma'm let's wear something of our choice on this ethnic day. It was so astonishing to hear this statement from my students. My curiosity provoked me to ask them why? Because we don't want to trouble our parents by demanding for new dresses when we know pretty well about the struggles they face in making two ends meet.
I could sense myself staring at them with a lot of admiration. Without hiding my feelings I just told them openly that I felt proud of them.
My train of thoughts took me to the times when we were teenagers who were so conscious about ourselves. It wasn't a time where, to look educated, people had tailored their outfits and groomed themselves. In fact, it was a time where we were put to open thinking and high ideals. Each one had a distinct way of perception towards issues. Differences were respected. Values were important.
Education meant a lot more than a ninety percent or cent percent score. Teaching was content-based with truly qualified and value-based teachers who never judged the students, but always had a firm wisdom to understand the atrocities of youth and knew so well that it all toned up an individual eventually to a higher personality.
Peering into my students' eyes; I had an inert faith that tomorrow is safe in their hands who had a firm confidence in themselves.
